Spreading Our Work with a Top-10 Journalism School
The Harwood Institute recently announced a
new partnership with the William Allen White
School of Journalism and Mass Communications at
the University of Kansas, one of the Top-10
journalism schools in the nation. This
initiative will harvest the knowledge and
experience the Institute developed through its
long-term, ground-breaking work with the news
media on journalism values, in transforming
some of the largest newsrooms in the country,
and in spreading its approach to scores of
others newsrooms, all in an effort to reconnect
the news media with the communities they
cover.
The partnership will develop
tools that will be used to teach the next
generation of journalists in journalism
classrooms, as well as provide more
possibilities for community coverage to working
journalists. Together, The Harwood Institute
and KU will produce an online
community-coverage handbook, create a Web site
to disseminate new materials, and develop
curriculum for journalism educators.
