| A special online event for
community foundations coming up
tomorrow |
 |
|
How can community
foundations build the civic strength of the
communities they serve and fulfill their
missions with excellence during a time when
people are retreating from public life and
politics?
That is the question Rich
Rich Harwood will address tomorrow at 11 a.m.
EST on a live Web cast, sponsored by Community
Foundations of America and open to all staff,
board members, and executives of community
foundations. The discussion will be based on
findings in Rich's latest book, Hope
Unraveled: The People's Retreat and Our Way
Back.

If you are interested
in learning how to get beyond the negative
conditions in today's public life that lead
people to retreat so that you and your
organization can build the collective will for
action, then join us for The Harwood Public
Innovators Lab.
The lab represents the
broadest exposure of Harwood tools and
frameworks ever assembled and is designed to
produce a profound shift in how you think about
your community-based work. A new page of
details about the four-day experience, with
quotes from past attendees, is now available at
our Web
site.
The first lab is set for
May 21-25 at the Pier 5 Hotel in Baltimore's
Inner Harbor. There are only slots available
for a small group, so please register early to
secure your spot.

- We believe in the innate goodness of
individuals and the possibility for
change.
- We seek for people to imagine and act for the public
good so that we can all do the
unfinished work of our communities and the
nation.
- Together, we must create the conditions
for people to tap their potential to make a difference
and join together to build a common future.
- Our aim is to ignite a sense of possibility and
hope in America.
- We must create more
advocates for public life.

Hope blog An
authentic voice for public life
To what extent do we as a
society value truth today – and when is
