Back
(Washington,
DC): Hardwood Institute is
one of more than 30
organizations included in the The Case
Foundation’s Guide to Good Giving, which
focuses on helping people make smart and
meaningful decisions about their
giving during the holiday season and
beyond.
The 2007 Guide to Good Giving is filled
with interesting and innovative gift
and giving suggestions, including helping
advance the public good by getting
involved with the Harwood Institute for Public
Innovation.
The
Harwood Institute for Public Innovation
helps people imagine and act for
the public good. In his new essay, Make Hope
Real, Rich Harwood explores how we
can accelerate change for the public good.
Involvement with the Harwood
Institute will teach individuals how to lead a
“Make Hope Real” group
discussion in their own communities.
The Case
Foundation’s 2007 Guide
to Good Giving is divided into three
sections:
Gifts That
Give – suggestions for how consumers can
make
purchases and give gifts that give back from
the Dog Lovers Wine Club to
Expedition Backpacks.
Staff Picks – includes
suggestions from the staff of the Case
Foundation on charities and causes they
think are doing some of the most interesting
and impactful work. The Staff
Picks section also includes grantees on the
Case Foundation
Out of the Box
– where people can find suggestions on how
to
direct their engagement or giving with
innovative opportunities ranging from
virtual volunteering to micro lending to
donating unused airline miles to help
a member of the US Armed Forces get home for
the holidays.
“Our hope
for the Guide to Good Giving is that it becomes
a
resource people can use year-round to discover
interesting, innovative and
meaningful ways to guide their purchasing
power, volunteer time, investment
capital and their capacity to give back,”
said Christine
Fanning, Vice President for
Partnerships at the Case
Foundation. “We
believe the groups,
organizations and companies in our guide are
doing great work in support of
good causes and we’re happy to present them
here.
