Harwood Institute and ALA Announce Groundbreaking Initiative

On Saturday, American Library Association President Maureen Sullivan and Rich Harwood, founder and president of the Harwood Institute, held a press conference at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle to announce the beginning of  the "Promise of Libraries Transforming Communities" Initiative, a new partnership between ALA and the Harwood Institute of Public Innovation The multi-phase initiative's goal is to provide librarians with the tools and training they need to lead their communities in finding solutions by advancing library-led community engagement and innovation.

The announcement was made at ALA's Midwinter Conference. The Harwood Institute led two sessions at the conference: The Promise of Libraries Transforming Communities, and Community Engagement Conversation: The Work of Hope.
