The founder and president of the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation talked about the importance of communities setting aside differences and working together toward common goals at the Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce’s Business@Breakfastevent Tuesday.
The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation is based in Bethesda, Md. and was founded by Richard Harwood, who is currently on a cross-country tour for a campaign called “Reclaiming Main Street.” Harwood said he believes the country needs a new breed of leader, something he referred to as a “public innovator.” He said public innovators have ideals about the type of community they want, but are also practical and are focused on what works and what can work. He said they also know how to take calculated risks that will usually prove to be successful.
